ABOUT LIBRARY

The Central Library of S. S College, Hailakandi was established in 1950 along with the commencement of the college itself, with an objective to fulfill the information needs of the students and teachers in the form of study materials, books periodicals journals, collection of invited research articles etc. Within the span of more than 50 years of service, the central library has documented commendable upliftment.

The library has a separate well documented section for collection of books on local tradition and culture to sustain the heritage of the past.

For easier search and find the collection of library is subdivided into several sections, viz., Text, Reference, Ready Reference Information, Book bank, Computerized Lending, Books on local tradition and culture, Journals and Recent addition.

At present the Central Library, S.S. College, has a total collection of 15958 numbers of books on various subjects and topics. The library subscribes 18 national and international research journals and 5 local and national newspapers.

The library Cell was constituted as per the IQAC plan for the overall development of the Central Library S.S. College in qualitative terms and to chalk out plans for implementation of the same, by strengthening the existing resources and by introducing new facility and services.

The Library cell as constituted on 25th January 2005 with Principal as the Ex-Officio Chairperson and Mr. B.C Pradhan, selection grade lecturer & HOD Pol. Science, S. S. College, Hailakandi as the Ex-Officio members of the cell as per principal’s notification and approval. The present Library Cell is constituted by:
