Department of Economics started its journey with the establishment of the College in the year 1950. The department started its Higher Secondary and Degree Pass course subjects from the starting. From starting to till date, the department is running with 4 no of faculty members. At present 1 no of post is vacant and this teaching post will be filled up soon.

Departmental Activity
The Department of Economics, S. S. College, Hailakandi has a well equipped departmental library having more than 1100 books. The teacher of the department published 8 research paper during past few years. Every year the department carry out survey work on the socioeconomic status of the community people in this locality.
